The Man of War

God is not a passive observer of our battles; He actively engages in them, dominating and conquering every challenge that comes our way.

. He Destroys Enemies by His Mighty Hand

Deuteronomy 7:23 (KJV): “But the Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.”

His destruction is total. He doesn’t negotiate with Pharaoh—He kills the taskmasters.

1. The Red Sea – Exodus 14

Pharaoh was pursuing, the Israelites were trapped. If God didn’t intervene, they’d be dead.

Result: God drowned their enemies in the sea.

“For the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever.” — Exodus 14:13

2. Jehoshaphat’s Worship Battle – 2 Chronicles 20

They were outnumbered. But instead of weapons, they used worship.

Result: God ambushed the enemy armies.
He killed the battle with confusion—before the enemy could strike Judah.

3. Gideon’s Battle – Judges 7

Only 300 men vs. a massive Midianite army.

God’s strategy: Reduce the army, confuse the enemy.

Result: The enemies turned on themselves and fled. God killed the battle before Gideon could.

Result: One angel from God killed all 185,000 in one night.

The greatest battle—sin, death, and hell.

Jesus killed the battle before it could kill us eternally.

✅ God killed the battle by confusion. Judah didn’t fight; they worshipped.

“And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand…”

✅ One angel killed 185,000 enemies—battle ended overnight.

5. Deuteronomy 28:7

“The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face…”
